With most of the fall being virtual, student orgs had to get a bit creative in how they engaged students. For Association of Women Surgeons, we were looking for a relaxing, “community vibe” activity to end our Women in Medicine Week. We ended up brainstorming a virtual Paint and Sip and thus began working to create painting kits for students of various health professional schools to participate. On a lovely Friday afternoon, around 40 of us gathered on Zoom and spent a couple hours painting and chatting together. It was such a fun time! I led the group through the steps with some tips and tricks along the way. Later in the fall I also led a painting session for Graduate Student Appreciation Week and a few of the student medical societies. I’ve really enjoyed leading the groups and seeing everyone’s personal touches on the same prompt. The paintings shown here are the ones I created for each event. I hope to continue these after STEP1 and hopefully (fingers crossed), in person!
